Love on the Run
At thirty, Antoine is a proofreader facing the fallout of a very public split: his is the first "no-fault" divorce in France, and the press descends on him with a mix of curiosity and schadenfreude. The media circus forces him to confront a life he thought was private, dredging up youthful indiscretions, old romances, and the quieter mistakes that shaped him. Under the glare of attention, his everyday routines in Paris feel exposed and oddly small.
Caught between a tentative new affection for a warm, sensible store clerk and the magnetism of his past, Antoine drifts through indecision. The film traces his hesitant attempts at intimacy—talks, compromises, and the blank spaces where commitment should be—while revealing how memory and reputation steer his choices as much as desire. There is a gentle, rueful humor in his missteps, and a melancholy awareness that growing up can mean repeating the same patterns with new consequences.
When he impulsively absconds with an old flame, the story becomes a compact, bittersweet exploration of love, identity, and the costs of running. Scenes of Parisian streets and small domestic details are rendered with warmth and a keen eye for human foibles, making the film a tender portrait of a man caught between the comfort of nostalgia and the possibility of starting anew.
