Splitting Heirs

When a stuffy member of the English upper class dies, his fortune and family business are bequeathed to an American whom he mistakenly believes to be the long-lost son he thought had been found. The unexpected heir, now the boss, finds himself the focus of scheming relatives and bewildering social upheaval as loyalties shift and old secrets bubble to the surface.

At the center of the chaos is an Englishman who, long convinced he is of Indian descent, comes to believe he is the true heir and turns his resentment into a comic vendetta. Jealous of his friend, boss, and rival for the same woman’s affections, he fuels a farcical struggle for money, status, and love that satirizes class pretensions and nationalist delusions with increasingly absurd and darkly humorous twists.
