Harry Fabian is a hustler with an unshakable appetite for quick schemes, drifting through London's shadowy nightlife in search of the next angle. He leans on everyone he knows, including his long-suffering girlfriend Mary, who grows increasingly exhausted by his constant borrowing and broken promises. When Harry fixates on a desperate plan to break into the wrestling world and exploit its small-time promoters, his lies and desperation pull him ever deeper into a violent, criminal underbelly.

As his plots unravel, alliances fracture and betrayals multiply, driving Harry toward a bleak and inevitable downfall. The film captures a ruthless, noir-inflected portrait of postwar London where ambition and bad faith collide, leaving little room for escape or redemption. Gruff, tense, and unflinching, it traces a man's self-destructive rise and the human cost exacted by his refusal to accept limits.
