Biography

Arthur Hindle, a versatile Canadian actor and director, was born on July 21, 1948, in Halifax before his family later relocated to Toronto during his childhood. Despite being shy in his early years, Hindle blossomed into a rebellious and independent teenager, embarking on travels through hitchhiking and immersing himself in various jobs and encounters with diverse individuals.

At the age of 21, Hindle found himself juggling roles as a father, a stockbroker, and an amateur photographer. However, the allure of the theatre proved irresistible after a transformative experience witnessing a Toronto Workshop Productions play. This pivotal moment prompted him to bid farewell to the stock market and pursue a career in acting, kickstarting his journey by auditioning for commercials and delving into the world of Method acting under the tutelage of Eli Rill.

One of the turning points in Hindle's career was his appearance in the film "The Gunfighters," where he had the opportunity to collaborate with his uncle, Michael Kane, who served as a source of inspiration for his acting aspirations. Following his debut, Hindle ventured into television and film, making notable guest appearances and securing roles in various productions, including the biker movie "The Proud Rider," which marked his first major role and introduced him to the world of motorcycle gangs.

A significant milestone in Hindle's career came with his portrayal of Billy Duke, a talented hockey player, in the film "Face-Off," which garnered attention and opened doors to Hollywood opportunities. Despite initial reluctance, he eventually made the move to Los Angeles, where he continued to establish himself as a dedicated and hardworking actor, earning accolades for his performances in projects like the acclaimed series E.N.G., for which he received a Gemini award.

In addition to his acting endeavors, Hindle expanded his repertoire by venturing into directing in the early 1990s, showcasing his multi-faceted talents behind the camera as well. Currently, he is known for his involvement in the popular series "Paradise Falls," where he not only stars but also directs, captivating audiences with his on-screen presence and creative vision.

Married and dividing his time between California and Canada, Arthur Hindle exemplifies a seasoned "working actor" with a rich tapestry of roles in classic films, television series, and his own directorial projects.
