Karel Effa, born Karel Effenberger in 1922 in Prague, was a Czech actor whose career spanned theater, film, and music.

During World War II, Effa served as a professional soldier in the Government Army and later joined the Czechoslovak troops fighting alongside the Western Allies. After the war, he continued his artistic pursuits, becoming a member of various theaters including the Theater of Satire, Theater of State Film, and Semafor Theater.

Effa's talent as a comedian shone through in the 71 smaller and episodic film roles he portrayed during his lifetime. Notable performances include his role as the villain Pancho Kid in the Czech comedy "Lemonade Joe or Horse Opera" and as the black Gustav in Zeman's renowned film "The Stolen Airship."

Apart from his work in theater and film, Effa was also a skilled musician, known for playing the guitar and singing tramp songs during his six thousand touring performances. His folk humor and musical talents endeared him to audiences across Czechoslovakia.

In addition to his artistic endeavors, Effa was a passionate hiker who frequented the Brdy region, often visiting the settlement of Ztracenka. His love for nature and the outdoors complemented his vibrant personality and artistic pursuits.
