Biography

John Hawkes, originally born John Marvin Perkins, hails from Alexandria, Minnesota, and comes from a background of Scandinavian and British Isles descent. Making his mark in the entertainment industry, he transitioned to Austin, Texas, where he kickstarted his career as both an actor and musician. Co-founding the Big State Productions Theatre Company, he showcased his talents in the original play "In the West" at the prestigious Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. In order to distinguish himself from another actor with the same name, he adopted the stage moniker "John Hawkes".

One of John Hawkes' standout performances was in the highly-praised film "Me and You and Everyone We Know" (2005), which not only garnered widespread acclaim but also clinched the special jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival and the Camera d'Or Award at the Cannes Film Festival.

His filmography boasts an array of diverse roles, including appearances in the Lion's Gate production "A Slipping-Down Life" (1999) alongside Guy Pearce, the gripping psychological thriller "Identity" (2003) with John Cusack and Ray Liotta, and the action-packed "Miami Vice" (2006) starring Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell.
