Raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, Pettyjohn made her first credited film appearances in 1967 under the name Angelique, showcasing her talent and versatility from the very beginning of her career.

In 1967, Pettyjohn caught her big break when she appeared in the Elvis Presley film "Clambake," solidifying her presence in Hollywood. Her captivating performance as one of the go-go dancers in the opening scene of the comedy "The Odd Couple" (1968) alongside stars like Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau further showcased her charisma and on-screen presence.

One of her notable roles was as the drill thrall Shahna in the iconic Star Trek episode, "The Gamesters of Triskelion," where she brought a unique energy to the character.
