Hugh Milburn Stone, born on July 5, 1904, in Burrton, Kansas, was a talented American actor whose portrayal of "Doc" on the iconic CBS Western series Gunsmoke left a lasting impact on television history. Growing up, Stone's passion for the arts was evident as he participated in the drama club, played basketball, and even sang in a barbershop quartet during his time at Burrton High School.

Stone's journey in the entertainment industry began in the 1920s when he debuted on stage in a Kansas tent show. His transition to vaudeville and later Broadway showcased his versatility as a performer. With credits in productions like "Around the Corner" and "Jayhawker," Stone's talent and dedication to his craft shone brightly.
