In 2014, Shearsmith reunited with Pemberton to create the darkly comic series "Inside No. 9," where each episode unfolds in a different No. 9 setting, showcasing their storytelling prowess and acting abilities. This venture not only solidified their status as a dynamic duo in the world of television but also allowed them to explore a wide array of characters and narratives.

Beyond his television work, Shearsmith delved into dramatic territory with his portrayal of Malcolm Webster in the ITV drama series "The Widower," based on a true story.
