Kristina Adler Arjona is a visionary director who is dedicated to amplifying the voices of marginalized communities both in front of and behind the camera. Drawing from her own experiences as a queer Latina and sexual assault survivor, Kristina is deeply committed to giving a platform to underrepresented stories that resonate with authenticity and depth.
Born into a multicultural family with roots in Colombia and Germany, Kristina's upbringing was shaped by a rich tapestry of diverse influences. Her unique background, coupled with her father's career as a medical missionary, exposed her to a myriad of cultures from a young age, instilling in her a profound appreciation for the power of storytelling as a universal language that transcends boundaries. Embracing her Latinx heritage and reclaiming the family name of Arjona has been a deeply personal and fulfilling journey for Kristina, allowing her to forge a deeper connection to her roots and identity.
Educated in the arts, Kristina pursued her passion for storytelling by studying theatre at the Alabama School of Fine Arts and later earning a BFA in Acting and a BA in Theatrical Design & Production with a focus on Directing and Scenic Design from Elon University. Equipped with a diverse skill set and a thirst for creative expression, she went on to establish Jump Cut Collective, a production company dedicated to empowering marginalized voices and fostering inclusivity within the industry.
Through her thought-provoking films, Kristina Arjona has garnered recognition at esteemed festivals such as the Atlanta Film Festival, Sidewalk Film Festival, and Cucalorus Film Festival, where her work has captivated audiences and sparked important conversations about representation, diversity, and social justice.
