Biography

Carolina Valdés is a multifaceted artist, known for her talents as a performer, writer, and theatre maker. Her journey in the world of performing arts began with training at the prestigious Col.legi de Teatre in Barcelona and the École Internationale de Théâtre de Jacques Lecoq in Paris, where she crossed paths with the renowned Joseph Alford. This meeting would mark the start of a fruitful creative partnership.

In 1999, Carolina assumed the role of Co-Artistic Director of 'theatre O,' a position that allowed her to co-create and perform in a myriad of groundbreaking productions that showcased her immense talent and creativity. Her dedication to the craft led her to earn a BA Hons degree in Journalism from the Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona, showcasing her commitment to storytelling through various mediums.

Beyond her work with 'theatre O,' Carolina has made a significant impact in the realms of theatre, opera, film, and television. Her collaborations with industry luminaries such as Phyllida Lloyd in the Shakespeare Trilogy project, filmmaker Daria Martin, writer Jonathan Young, and composer Melanie Wilson have solidified her reputation as a versatile and sought-after artist.

In addition to her impressive body of work on stage and screen, Carolina has demonstrated a passion for education, sharing her knowledge and expertise with aspiring artists. Her teaching engagements at esteemed institutions like the Central School of Speech and Drama, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, and Guildford Drama School have inspired and nurtured the next generation of talent in the performing arts.

Carolina's artistic pursuits extend beyond traditional performance spaces, as evidenced by her involvement with company ATT, where she has spent the past eight years using drama as a tool to explore workplace behavior. Furthermore, her linguistic abilities shine through her decade-long endeavor of translating comic books and graphic novels from English and French into Spanish, showcasing her versatility and dedication to storytelling in various forms.
