Biography

Margo Hall is a multifaceted artist who has left an indelible mark on the Bay Area theater scene for over three decades. Beyond being an accomplished actor, she has also taken on the roles of director, activist, educator, and now, the Artistic Director of the prestigious Lorraine Hansberry Theatre. Known for her captivating performances, Hall recently showcased her talent in the critically acclaimed film "BLINDSPOTTING" alongside Daveed Diggs, a fellow Oakland native, as well as in "All Day and a Night" on Netflix. Her on-stage presence was last felt in the powerful production of "Exit Strategy" at The Aurora Theater.

In addition to her stellar acting career, Hall has made significant contributions as a director, helming productions such as "How I Learned What I Learned" at Marin Theatre Company, "BARBECUE," where she also took on a starring role, and "Red Velvet" at SF Playhouse. Her diverse acting credits span a wide range of productions, including memorable performances in plays like "JAZZ," "Skeleton Crew," "Fences," and "Seven Guitars" at Marin Theatre Company, as well as "God Person of Szechwan" and "Black Odyssey" at California Shakespeare Theater.

As a writer, Hall has demonstrated her creative prowess with works like "The People's Temple" at Berkeley Repertory Theater, which garnered her the esteemed Glickman award for best new play in the Bay Area in 2005. She also penned "Be Bop Baby, a Musical Memoir," a semi-autobiographical piece that featured the Marcus Shelby 15 piece Orchestra at Z Space. Hall's artistic endeavors extend beyond the stage, as she is a founding member of Campo Santo, a renowned multicultural theater company in San Francisco. Collaborating with esteemed artists like Naomi Iizuka, Phillip Kan Gotanda, and Jessica Hagedorn, she has played a pivotal role in shaping the local theater landscape.

In her role as an educator, Hall imparts her wealth of knowledge and experience to aspiring theater students at UC Berkeley and Chabot College.
