Leila Farzad, born on December 30, 1981, in London, comes from Iranian descent. Her journey into the world of acting was influenced by her exposure to National Theatre productions during her childhood. Despite her passion for acting, her parents encouraged her to first pursue a degree from Oxford or Cambridge University. Farzad followed their advice and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in French and Italian Literature from Worcester College, Oxford, before diving into formal acting training at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama, which she described as feeling like "home."

Farzad's career kicked off with a voice role in the popular animated series Peppa Pig, followed by her live-action television debut in an episode of Law & Order: UK.
