Biography

Robert Peters, a prominent figure in the Nigerian film industry, was born in Sabon Gari, Kaduna, Northern Nigeria. As the second of eight children to Lawrence Adagba and Comfort Peters, he grew up immersed in a large and loving family. Proud of his Afemai heritage, Peters hails from Ososo in the Akoko Edo local government area of Edo State, which undoubtedly influences his creative work.

Starting his journey at St. Gregory Primary School in Kaduna, Peters later pursued higher education at the University of Jos, Nigeria, where he delved into Geology and Mining. However, his true passion for storytelling led him to transition into the world of acting, marking his debut in the 1998 movie "Mama Sunday." This decision set the stage for a remarkable career that would span continents and genres.

In 2004, Peters made a significant move to the United States, where he honed his skills in Visual Storytelling at New York University. Immersing himself in the world of cinema, he sought hands-on experience through Film Career Connection in Atlanta, gaining invaluable insights on various film sets across the country. Additionally, his dedication to mastering the craft led him to REDucation, where he received specialized training on Red cameras and equipment from industry professionals.

Transitioning into cinematography and film editing in 2006, Peters showcased his versatility and technical prowess on numerous African-American productions, leaving a lasting impact on each project he touched. His commitment to excellence and innovation propelled him to new heights in the industry, garnering recognition for his exceptional work behind the camera.

One of Peters' crowning achievements came in 2014 with the release of "30 Days in Atlanta," a comedy film that he directed. The movie made history as the highest-grossing film in Nigerian box office at the time, solidifying Peters' reputation as a visionary filmmaker with a unique storytelling approach. Its inclusion in the 2017 Guinness Book of Records alongside iconic films from Bollywood and Hollywood further underscored its global impact.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Peters finds fulfillment in his personal life as a devoted husband to Deborah Peters and a loving father to their son, Zachary Lawrence Onafa-Orafa Peters. Together, they oversee Whitestone Pictures LLC, a film production studio and equipment provider based in Lawrenceville, Georgia, showcasing their shared passion for bringing stories to life on the silver screen. As Peters continues to push boundaries and inspire audiences worldwide, his legacy as a trailblazer in the world of cinema only continues to grow.
