Biography

Frank Collison is a versatile actor whose career spans across theatre, film, and television. His journey in the entertainment industry began after he trained at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco and earned his BA in theatre at San Francisco State University. His dedication to honing his craft led him to establish a summer theatre company in the Sierra Nevadas and later earn an MFA in acting at UC San Diego. Prior to his professional acting career, Frank held various jobs, including working as a forest firefighter, diaper service dispatcher, and substitute teacher, showcasing his diverse background and experiences.

With over 150 productions under his belt, Frank has showcased his talent both off Broadway and in regional theaters in cities like Boston, Denver, and California. His theatrical repertoire is vast, ranging from classic roles like "Puck" in A Midsummer Night's Dream to more complex characters like "Miss Havisham" in Great Expectations and "Jacob Marley" in A Christmas Carol. As a founding member of the Pacific Resident Theatre in Venice, California, Frank has been instrumental in the success of the theater, which has garnered over 25 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards, highlighting his contributions to the local arts scene.

Transitioning to film and television, Frank made his mark in Hollywood when he moved to Los Angeles in 1984. One of his most notable roles includes portraying "Horace Bing," the hapless telegraph operator on the beloved series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman (1993). Additionally, he captured audiences' attention with his performance as "Wash Hogwallop" in the critically acclaimed film O Brother, Where Art Thou?
