Patrick Leonard Sajdak, professionally known as Pat Sajak, is a prominent American television personality who has made his mark as a former weatherman, talk show host, and most notably, as the beloved host of the iconic American television game show, Wheel of Fortune.

Sajak's journey into the world of broadcasting began with a stroke of luck when he won a contest to be a guest teen deejay on WLS radio's Dick Biondi Show. His career trajectory led him to Columbia College Chicago, where he honed his skills before landing a job as a newsman at a local radio station, WEDC. Not one to shy away from challenges, Sajak later joined the US Army and served as a disc jockey in Vietnam, where he encountered a memorable mishap during President Richard Nixon's Christmas broadcast to the troops.

In the early 1970s, Sajak's talent as a DJ caught the attention of WSM in Nashville, where he became a popular afternoon personality. His transition to television occurred when he was brought on screen by WSM-TV, first as a voiceover artist and later as a weekend and substitute weatherman. Sajak's big break came in 1977 when KNBC-TV in Los Angeles offered him a full-time weatherman position, setting the stage for his meteoric rise in the entertainment industry.

In 1981, Sajak was presented with a career-defining opportunity when Merv Griffin approached him to take over as the host of Wheel of Fortune.
