Macka Foley, born Martin Macka A. Foley, Jr. on January 2, 1951, in Portland, Maine, was a man of many talents and passions. His journey began in the West End, where he honed his skills both on the basketball court and in the boxing ring. Graduating from Portland High School in 1969, he left a mark not only as a dedicated athlete but also as the class clown, earning the title of "most witty" from his peers.

After bravely serving two tours in the Vietnam War as a United States Marine, Macka transitioned into the world of professional boxing, showcasing his prowess in the ring with a total of 54 fights over a decade. His global boxing career took him to various corners of the world, solidifying his reputation as a formidable competitor with a deep knowledge of the sport's history and champions.

In 1986, Macka made the move to Los Angeles, California, where he found a new calling as a boxing trainer.
