Biography

Jack Perrin, born Lyman Wakefield Perrin on July 25, 1896, in Three Rivers, Michigan, was an American actor renowned for his work in Western films. His journey into the world of entertainment began when his family moved to Los Angeles, California, in the early 20th century.

After serving in the United States Navy during World War I, Perrin found his passion for acting and made his debut on the silver screen in 1917's "Luke's Lost Liberty" alongside the legendary Harold Lloyd. This marked the beginning of a prolific career that spanned over four decades.

In 1920, Perrin tied the knot with silent film actress Josephine Hill, showcasing a glimpse of his personal life amidst his flourishing acting career. Throughout the 1920s, he established himself as a versatile actor, starring in various genres ranging from cliffhangers to melodramas.

However, it was in the 1930s that Perrin truly found his niche in B-movie Westerns, where he portrayed lead roles under the names Jack Perrin, Jack Gable, or Richard (Dick) Terry. One of his notable performances during this period was as Davy Crockett in 1937's "The Painted Stallion" for Republic Pictures.

Despite facing personal challenges, including his divorce from Josephine Hill in 1937, Perrin continued to grace the silver screen until 1960, leaving behind a legacy that resonates with fans of classic cinema. His later roles, although minor and often uncredited, showcased his dedication to his craft.

Tragically, Jack Perrin passed away on December 17, 1967, at the age of 71, following a heart attack. Despite his untimely departure, his impact on the film industry endures, immortalized by a star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame at 1777 Vine Street in Hollywood, California.
