Irena's Vow

At 19, Irena Gut is promoted to housekeeper in the home of a respected Nazi officer just as she learns the nearby Jewish ghetto is about to be liquidated. Determined to save twelve Jewish workers, she hides them in the safest place she can imagine: the German major’s own basement. What begins as a desperate gamble becomes an extraordinary test of nerves and imagination.

For eight months Irena walks a tightrope of deception, using wit, humor and nerve to keep her friends alive beneath the enemy’s roof. The film traces the tension of everyday survival—small kindnesses, near-discoveries and moral compromises—while celebrating one young woman’s fierce courage and the alliances that form under impossible circumstances.
