His journey to Hollywood was unique, having served in the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division before pursuing a career in acting in the 1960s.

One of his most memorable roles was as the unfriendly junkyard owner Milo Pressman in the acclaimed film "Stand by Me" (1986) directed by Rob Reiner.

In addition to "Stand by Me," Bronder showcased his acting prowess in a variety of films such as "Flush" (1982), "Cannery Row" (1982), "Yes, Giorgio" (1982), "Best Seller" (1987), and "Return to Me" (2000), where he portrayed Wally Jatczak in his final role.
