Born to a father of Ethiopian descent, Asfaha Hadera, who dedicated his life to helping African immigrants through the African Services Committee, and a mother, Kim Nicholas, who worked as an acupuncturist, Ilfenesh's upbringing was enriched with a blend of cultures and experiences.

Growing up in such a culturally rich environment, Ilfenesh developed a deep appreciation for the arts, eventually graduating from the prestigious Fiorello H.
